Why is it important to remove your makeup every evening?

We can’t say this enough, it is essential to remove all your makeup every evening before going to bed. But do you know why? What happens if you don’t do it

An often overlooked but crucial step

Once you’ve mastered how to perfectly apply your eyebrow, eye or lip makeup, it’s normal to want to use makeup to look good either day-to-day or for special occasions. However, when it comes to makeup removal, we can occasionally be a bit lax. Whether you’re feeling lazy, you don’t have enough time or you’re too tired, it can be tempting to skip this step.

However, as we all know: it is essential to remove your makeup properly!

Leaving your makeup on can give you wrinkles

Preventing the appearance of wrinkles is one of the many reasons why it is important to remove your makeup. If your skin can’t breathe, over time it loses its moisture. This can lead to the premature appearance of wrinkles. When you take your makeup off, you rub and massage your skin, improving microcirculation, nutrition and the oxygenation of cells, giving you supple and smooth skin

On the other hand, if you leave your makeup on, greasy substances and pollutants can lead to oxidation and inflammation of the skin. The skin’s barrier function is altered and the skin becomes less well protected. As a result, over time your skin becomes dull and marked. Soon, this will leave you looking older. Regularly removing your makeup keeps you looking young and fresh

Taking your makeup off gives you a radiant complexion and glow

If you don’t remove your makeup, the pores of your face can become blocked by makeup. Your skin can’t breathe properly and will become suffocated, as the epidermis can no longer absorb and benefit from other skin care products. Your complexion will quickly become dull. It is useless to apply skin care products to skin that is not perfectly clean because the layer of makeup, however thin, will prevent the cream from penetrating and acting on the skin.

Taking your makeup off to avoid blemishes and inflammation

Any makeup, be it foundation, lipstick or eyebrow mascara is not intended to stay permanently on your skin. When you don’t properly remove it, beauty and makeup products build up and block your pores. These products, which are considered as pollutants and are aggressive for the skin, prevent cell renewal that happens every night. So not removing makeup can lead to cellular dysfunction. This makes your skin more fragile and exposed to external aggressions, leading to the appearance of spots, blackheads, redness and other blemishes, as well as skin inflammation.

Can I skip this step if I don’t use makeup ?

As surprising as this sounds, the answer is no. You still need to complete the makeup removal process even if you don’t wear makeup

Throughout the day, your face is exposed to many types of pollution and aggressions. It needs a deep clean to be able to regenerate. This is the best way to keep your skin looking fresh and glowing. So even if you don’t wear makeup, you should still get into this habit every evening.

What should your makeup removal routine include ?

To completely remove makeup, apply a makeup removal product and massage it gently into your skin. Start from the neck and work up towards the top of the face, then rinse. Then repeat the process a second time. Lastly, to take care of your skin, you can simply apply a bit of cream using cotton wool.

What makeup removal product should I choose ?

There are several types of makeup remover: lotions, cream, micellair water, etc. So which is the right one for you?

If your skin is oily, mixed or blemished, go for a mild or purifying cleansing gel, which will help your skin rid itself of excess sebum and avoid blemishes.

If you have sensitive skin, you should choose ultra mild no-rinse products such as our push & clean makeup remover wipes .

If you have normal skin, you can opt for any makeup removal product you choose.

Lastly, for dry skin, choose a lotion or moisturizing micellar solution, to help keep your skin moisturized and radiant.

Eye makeup remover

Your eyes, and particularly the skin around your eyes, are very fragile and require special attention. To remove eye or eyebrow makeup, you can use our fresh eye makeup removal gel, to cleanse and enhance your eyes, while giving your skin the care it needs.
